Do you have a plan for the unexpected?

Unexpected situations and emergencies often times come up during nerd and pop culture conventions. Knowing what to do can help you and your friend’s stay safer and healthier. With some simple know how you can be better prepared when the unexpected happens.

Make a Plan and be prepared for the unexpected with these simple steps.

1. Pack appropriately for the event:

Make sure to pack some simple items that will help you while you’re out at the convention or event you’re going to. We recommend everyone pack these simple items to help you be better prepared during conventions or events for the unexpected.

  • An extra battery pack for your phone or electronic devices
  • First Aid kit
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Extra toiletries to include deodorant
  • A good pair of walking shoes
  • Backpack
  • Cell phone
  • Sewing kit
  • Flashlight

2. Know what to do in the event of…

Evacuation of the building or area

Active Shooter

Someone you know is lost or missing

Someone is injured

Severe weather

Be crowd safe

What to do if the cell network stops working or is congested

Alcohol Emergencies

Are you AED aware?

Cosplay is not consent 

You or your friends are being harassed or had a consent violation. 

3. Get First Aid and CPR trained 

Knowing how to render First Aid and CPR can mean the difference between life and death. Did you know while people like and want First Aid, they don’t always think about it until they need it or when it’s too late? Getting first aid and CPR trained is a good way to be prepared for the unexpected. First Aid and CPR saves lives, particularly where there are grave injuries and it is critical that immediate action is taken. Learn more here
